Emergency Management Specialist

The Information and Engagement Specialist plays a key role in developing and implementing strategies to increase individual and community resilience in Alberta. This position requires a strong understanding of emergency management principles and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the team's subject matter expert in emergency personal preparedness and disaster risk resiliency, providing guidance and support to internal and external partners.
- Spokesperson: Utilize knowledge of emergency management principles and preparedness subject matter expertise to act as a spokesperson for the team, representing the organization at public events and conferences.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver preparedness presentations, training, and workshops to community leaders and Government of Alberta staff, using Adult Learning Theory to create champions for the preparedness program.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Lead the development, implementation, and measurement of a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy to build the unit's capacity and increase individual emergency preparedness and community resiliency.
- Public Education: Lead the creation and identification of public education opportunities to promote emergency preparedness and disaster risk resiliency.
This position requires a strong understanding of emergency management principles, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
