About the Senior Corporate Finance Product Lead Role

We're seeking an outstanding Senior Corporate Finance Product Lead to join Float and lead a team that's building the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada. As a key member of our product leadership team, you'll have complete ownership of your area and will be responsible for delivering against Float's product roadmap.

Responsibilities:
  • You will split your time between being a key hands-on contributor (including developing new features, maintaining and improving existing systems, and participating in design and code reviews), delivering against Float's product roadmap, and leading a team of talented engineers.
  • You'll own end-to-end engineering delivery outcomes for your product vertical, overseeing the product development process, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of new features and improvements, and partnering with others to prioritize and address technical challenges.
  • You'll represent engineering for your area of the product in all key meetings, collaborating with key stakeholders, including our co-founders, customers, and internal partners, to understand their needs, gather feedback, and incorporate it into the product roadmap and development process as appropriate.
  • You'll ensure the technical integrity of the product, code quality, and adherence to best practices. You'll be involved in coding, reviewing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • You'll gain a deep understanding of our customers and their challenges through our customer discovery stages and translate that knowledge into our product roadmap and technical design.
  • You'll be responsible for your product vertical's customer experience, quality, and product development.
  • You'll help to recruit, develop, and retain amazing talent to Float.

What Your Week-to-Week Looks Like:

- You'll lead a team of engineers through the product development lifecycle.
- You'll ship high-quality code to production in an iterative fashion while meeting key product deadlines.
- You'll work with your team to design high-throughput and stable systems.
- You'll talk to customers to understand their needs.
- You'll identify, analyze, and mitigate risks that could affect project timelines or product quality.
- You'll develop, implement, and refine engineering processes and practices to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- You'll work with the engineering leadership team to scale Float's organization.

You'll Be Great in This Role If:

- You've got the experience. To be successful in this role, we're looking for 7-10+ years of B2B SaaS, startup experience. Experience with business payments, banking, and finance is a bonus. You've led an engineering team at a growing startup, have experienced the growing pains of scaling a product and growing an engineering team, and want to join another early-stage company to do it all again.
- You're motivated by being a leader. You have previous experience leading teams of engineers, and partnering with product managers, product designers, product ops, data analysts, etc. An excellent cross-functional communicator with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders, you're able to navigate any natural tensions between various groups.
- You love the world of product. You care about the details with a strong data-driven metrics approach. No stranger to an Agile environment, you've managed product boards, prioritized engineering decisions, and understand software concepts, backend systems, and API specs. You love the craft of shipping software and take pride in the outcome.
- You're an owner. You take complete ownership and accountability of delivery and outcomes. You translate business requirements into technical specifications, overseeing the development process, and ensuring successful deployment. You are ready and willing to make tough decisions to achieve broader business goals and outcomes.
- You're eager to continue your own learning. Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the 'why' behind every answer. You're a creative thinker who can combine quantitative thinking with a great technical design. Finding creative ways to work through obstacles is fun for you.
- You believe the customer comes first. You'll advocate endlessly for our customers, and have a natural curiosity to understand their needs and are obsessed with customer research. You're also an excellent communicator, confident writer, and speaker, and can convey the needs of our customers and their technical requirements succinctly and clearly.
- You are action-oriented. You are ready to roll-up your sleeves to get building and want to see your technical design in our product. You have an understanding of how long it takes to get a technical idea into a product and know who to work with and how to get it implemented - you are comfortable with overseeing all aspects of a project.
- You've got an understanding of the market. You've worked with accounting/finance-related products, or have worked closely with finance leaders. You're commercially focused with an understanding of the market and the business we're in. You're no stranger to an ROI mindset.

This Role Won't Be a Fit If:

- You don't want to be in a player-coach role.
- You are not a self-starter and do not like to work independently.
- You aren't obsessed with your craft.
- You don't like ambiguity.
- You don't like regular feedback on your work.
- You are uncomfortable with direct feedback.
- You prefer stability over change.
- You aren't comfortable ruthlessly prioritizing.
- You don't like to work remotely or asynchronously.
- You don't have a very strong work ethic.
- You aren't a team player.
- You aren't resilient.
- You have an ego.
- You aren't super passionate about helping Float build the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada.

Don't Meet Every Single Requirement?

If you're excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $180,000-$220,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, you'll enjoy a small team environment with lots of autonomy to make an impact, opportunity to work with and learn from a world-class team, a personal Float card with a monthly stipend to spend on what matters most to you, a dog-friendly office, and the chance to say you helped build Canada's best corporate card and spend management platform.
