Salary

$80,000 - $110,000 per annum, based on experience.

Job Description

The Financial Operations Specialist will be responsible for performing various financial tasks, including preparing and processing cash calls, assisting in cash flow analysis, recording and reconciling project capital, and preparing bank reconciliations. Other responsibilities include performing monthly calculations, reconciliations, and recording revenues, fees, interest, and commissions for each project; recording journal entries, maintaining and reconciling general ledger, job cost, and other JDE reports; working with AP to ensure accurate and timely daily/weekly accounts payable processing for projects; preparing monthly construction draw packages and assessing costs incurred to budget; maintaining a working paper file for each project including support for GL balances and actual vs. budget analysis; performing timely month-end close and ensuring all pertinent transactions, including setting up monthly accruals, are recorded; complying with internal controls at all times; assisting in preparation of monthly financial reporting packages to senior management and external business partners; providing support to the audit and tax teams, responding to queries; and assisting in compliance reporting to lenders, government, partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of accounting experience; real estate industry experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Completed or in-progress CPA designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with JD Edwards an asset.
  • A self-starter. Ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, plan ahead, commit, and deliver within set time frames. Ambition to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strong skills in task-prioritization and multitasking. Being able to switch gears among various ongoing tasks while understanding priorities.
  • Strong people skills. A team player with a proven ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization as well as with external parties such as vendors, auditors, and business partners.
  • Strong communication skills. Demonstrated in written and verbal reports and meeting participation.
