Strategic Project Director

Hamilton, Canada Ira McDonald Construction Ltd. Full time

We are a dynamic construction company based in Ontario, seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead our institutional, commercial and industrial construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in the ICI sector, with a strong understanding of construction contracts, particularly CCDC documents. They should also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and delegate to a large team while developing strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects valued over $35 million, ensuring timely completion, quality control and positive cash flow.

• Partner with superintendents to provide overall construction management from pre-construction to completion, including coordination management, budgeting and scheduling.

• Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings.

• Monitor and forecast project costs, reporting them to management, and ensure they are in line with estimates.

• Communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers and other stakeholders, sharing high standards of professionalism and leadership.

• Problem-solve in relation to construction engineering, schedule and staffing, and lead project meetings to monitor and support team development.

• Write scopes and tender work as part of a team, and develop effective construction strategies and plans.

  • • Develop long-lasting relationships with clients, consultants and staff.
  • • Plan and execute construction operations efficiently.
  • • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in architectural technology, engineering or equivalent; GSC designation an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience in the ICI sector.
  • Strong leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of construction contracts and management software.
  • Proficient in Procore.
  • Able to travel and work from job sites and head office.
  • Valid driver's license.

Details

  • Reports to the IMC Director of Operations.
  • Full-time position.
  • Competitive salary range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
