Job Overview

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a highly skilled Department Sales and Merchandising Leader to join our team. This key role will be responsible for driving sales growth and maintaining high levels of customer service in one or more specialized merchandise departments.

About the Role

This leadership position involves developing and implementing strategies to drive sales, improve inventory management, and maintain operational excellence. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of Outfitters to deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth through effective merchandise presentation, pricing, and sales enhancement initiatives.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience.
  • Meet or exceed all financial plans, including sales targets and profitability goals.
  • Execute sales events and promotions to drive business growth.
  • Act as Manager on Duty and opens/closes the store, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Maintain planograms and ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Staff the departments with 'service' oriented Outfitters, participating in interviewing and selection, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Resolve customer and Outfitter issues promptly and fairly.
  • Carry out management functions in accordance with Bass Pro Shops' policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years in retail management, with experience in sales and merchandising.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to read and analyze reports and data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering results and meeting deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
