About the Role:

Catering Cook I is a part-time position at the Pacific National Exhibition, responsible for cooking and preparing food for various catered functions and PNE concession stands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cook and prepare food according to production guidelines and recipes.
  • Understand and demonstrate proper SOPs in cooking and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure food is stored in accurate temperatures for the appropriate length of time, following all food safety standards.
  • Ensure the highest quality of food is served in a timely and effective manner.
  • Cut, prepare, and serve items in correct and accurate portions.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation.
  • Control food waste, loss, and usage per standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain all walk-in coolers including labeling, dating, and rotating products.
  • Ensure PNE Uniform and Appearance Policy is adhered to at all times.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry.
  • Successful completion of Grade 12.
  • Post-secondary education or completion in culinary courses is considered an asset.
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification.
  • Strong knife skills and ability to follow recipes and safely operate all kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with staff, guests, and clients.
  • Ability to prepare and present food in a clean and appetizing manner.
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts and hours on a part-time basis, including early mornings, weekends, and evenings.
