About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Pathology Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing Gross Room and Autopsy activities, working closely with pathologists and laboratory management to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.

The successful candidate will possess excellent technical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills. They will be certified as a Pathology Assistant by the Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists' Assistants (CCCPA) or by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC), and have a strong background in anatomy, physiology, histology, pathology, and medical terminology.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is able to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and technical skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The successful candidate will be compensated at a rate of $45.40 per hour, and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
