Executive Chef

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic Catering team at Dalhousie University. As the Catering Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Culinary Manager to execute orders, develop menus, and lead a team of culinary professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Catering Manager to review catering orders, plan preparation and production accordingly
- Work alongside the culinary team to prepare and produce high-quality catering orders that meet our standards
- Lead and monitor Cooks and Food Service Workers' adherence to all Aramark operating standards and legislated requirements within the component, including company policy and procedure
- Assist with onboarding, coaching, and developing culinary staff to ensure they reach their full potential
- Contribute to weekly inventory management and product ordering processes to maintain optimal stock levels
- Standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality and excellence in every dish
- Resolve customer concerns and respond to culinary inquiries professionally and efficiently
- Foster strong relationships with clients, faculty, and staff to maintain high customer and employee engagement
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures, and required activities to ensure a safe working environment
- 5+ years of experience in the culinary field, preferably in leadership roles
- Culinary degree or Red Seal certification considered an asset
- Strong relationship-building skills to effectively interact with clients and customers
- Experience with food and labor costing to optimize menu planning and pricing
- Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of minimum 25 lbs and standing for extended periods

- An estimated annual salary of $60,000-$80,000 based on experience and qualifications
