PhD Researcher: Building Systems and Machine Learning

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized PhD researcher to join our team at the International Society for Industrial Ecology. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a standard building archetype database and a consistent comparison method for building energy performance and carbon intensity metrics.
The researcher will be responsible for creating a bill-of-material (BoM) database for common building archetypes in Canada, developing a set of attributes to define the functionality of building archetypes, and developing machine learning models to identify functionally-equivalent archetypes.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant discipline, proven experience in machine learning and programming, and a strong background in whole-building life cycle assessment.
The researcher will work in a team environment and contribute to the development of a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all members. We encourage applications from members of groups that have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the BC Human Rights Code.
