Data Center Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Manager to join our team at PeopleToGo.
As a Data Center Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading IT teams in data center operations, focusing on physical hardware, servers, storage, networks, backups, and database operations.
You will manage data center configurations and migrations, providing hands-on support for on-site operations. This includes performing racking and stacking of devices, power calculations, and overseeing data center cabling projects to ensure adherence to standards.
Implementing and maintaining structured cabling systems, including fiber optics and voice cabling infrastructure, is also an essential part of this role. You will conduct daily inspections of equipment, addressing and resolving issues proactively.
Additionally, you will replace hot-swappable hardware (e.g., drives, fans, network cabling) and assist in equipment installations, decommissions, and relocations. You will coordinate vendor relationships, ensuring compliance, communication, and collaboration during outages or project activities.
Your responsibilities will also include monitoring power indicators and environmental controls within the data center, reporting and addressing anomalies. You will maintain detailed schedules, activity plans, and documentation for data center operations.
Maintaining inventory, including asset tagging and tracking, to ensure accuracy is also crucial in this role. Participating in disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) activities will require your expertise.
Finally, you will adhere to corporate policies and ITIL processes to maintain operational excellence. This role requires flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment and respond to outages as needed.
About the JobThis is a contract position with a duration of 1 year. The job type is full-time, and the pay rate is $60 INC per hour. You will be required to work downtown Calgary.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Knowledge of handling and driving IT teams in DC operations space
- Associated with Physical hardware, server, storage, network, backup, and database operations
- 7 years of experience in handling Data Center (DC) configuration, migration from one DC to other, and providing smart hands support for data center site
- Good knowledge in Racking & Stacking of devices, power calculation, and proven expertise in managing multiple Data Center cabling projects
- 7 years of experience in Data Center cabling standards and infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, fibre optics, and voice cabling
- Basic knowledge on Compute, Network and Storage & Backup technologies
- Ability to maintain detailed activity schedule and work plan in the Data Center
- Vendor Relations Coordinator oversees vendor compliance, vendor communication, and vendor development
It is desirable to have basic knowledge on Server Hardware and Network Hardware, Server OS and Network IOS, and good communication & Listening skills.
