Senior Data Scientist, New College Grad – 2025

The Global Data Science team at Visa Inc. supports our bank and merchant partners by leveraging our rich data sets that span over 4 billion cards globally, capturing more than 190 billion transactions annually. Our focus lies in building creative solutions with an immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking a Data Scientist who can use and build new predictive models to innovate and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, data insights, advertising targeting, and other business outcomes.
  • The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership in a team generating business insights based on big data, identify impactful recommendations, and communicate findings to clients.
  • An out-of-the-box problem solver, passionate about applying data science techniques and innovative thinking, will help our clients innovate and solve problems they face.
  • This role involves running projects from scoping to delivery, engaging with internal/external partners, connecting with clients to understand challenges, and convincing them with data.
  • The successful candidate will find opportunities to craft products out of analyses suitable for multiple clients and work with partners throughout the organization to demonstrate Visa data driving business solutions.
  • Synthesis of ideas/proposals in writing and engagement in productive discussions with external or internal partners will be essential.
  • This role also involves providing mentorship in modern analytic techniques and business applications, prioritizing and leading multiple data science projects with diverse multi-functional partners.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years' relevant work experience with a master's degree in an analytical field such as statistics, operations research, economics, computer science, or a related field, graduating between January 2024 and August 2025.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience analyzing large data sets using programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Hive, and/or Spark.
  • Building predictive and descriptive statistical models using machine learning toolkits, Jupyter notebooks, Python, or others.
  • Presentation of evidence-based insights and conveying relevant recommendations.
  • Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards, or merchant analytics is a plus but not required.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 CAD, depending on location and experience.

Benefits: This is a hybrid position, allowing employees to alternate time between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
