Job Overview:
Mortgage collections is a specialized field that requires expertise in financial analysis and negotiation. As a Bilingual Collections Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire collection process, from initial contact to resolution.

Estimated Salary: $23.97 per hour.
This is a 2-year contract opportunity with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time position depending on business needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage collections, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and fluency in both French and English.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the entire collection process for delinquent accounts across various products, including loans, lines of credit, bank accounts, and mortgages.
  • Manage and resolve complex delinquent accounts promptly, ensuring accuracy in processing payments and adjustments.
  • Analyze accounts to assess clients' ability to repay and negotiate payment arrangements within established guidelines.
  • Handle incoming correspondence, determine necessary actions, and maintain detailed account records.
  • Escalaate legal or third-party notices when the bank's security is at risk and manage the balance between customer expectations and reputational risk.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (asset).
  • 13 years of experience in collections or recoveries, preferably with mortgage collections.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mortgage/loan agreements and legal documents, including bankruptcy notices.
  • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written).
