">About the Role
">We are seeking an experienced Child & Youth Care Worker to join our team at Angelus House in Edmonton. As a key member of our support team, you will play a vital role in providing care and guidance to youth aged 13-16 who require support in developing life skills and addressing challenges related to their behavior and development.
">Responsibilities
">Your primary responsibilities will include:
">- ">
- Assessing the needs of children and youth and developing individualized service plans">
- Providing counseling and teaching basic life, community, and family living skills">
- Ensuring basic needs are met, including food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and safety">
- Creating a safe, warm, and positive environment where children and youth feel welcomed and supported">
- Managing a caseload of 1-2 families and developing and overseeing service plans">
- Supervising and supporting children and youth in a semi-residential setting">
- Assisting children and youth in overcoming barriers and developing positive relationships with their families and communities">
- Supporting children and youth through life skills teaching and in-the-moment learning">
Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you will need:
">- ">
- A Diploma or Degree in Human Services or equivalent">
- A minimum of two years of experience counselling families, children, and youth with behavioral and developmental disabilities">
- Experience working with children and family programming, youth in care, residential care, and case management">
- Certification or training in Aboriginal Awareness, Abuse Awareness, Standard First Aid, Medication Administration, and Violence/Crisis Intervention">
- Strong communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and conflict management skills">
- The ability to provide physical holds on individuals as required">
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI)">
- Demonstrated assessment, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills">
- Knowledge of community resources and intermediate competency with Microsoft Office and other Agency computer applications">
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record">
