About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs. This will involve developing and implementing individualized care plans, incorporating evidence-based practice into nursing interventions, and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

  • Assess patient/resident status through methods such as reviewing medical records, conducting patient interviews, and observing patient behavior.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs and goals of each patient/resident.
  • Provide direct nursing interventions to manage crisis and life-threatening situations, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Document patient information, including assessments, care plans, and progress notes, in a timely and accurate manner.

In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will also participate in nursing orientation and share clinical knowledge with other nursing staff, nursing students, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in maternal care, preferably in a leadership or educational capacity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
