Wastewater Collection Systems Apprentice

Halifax Water is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Collection Systems Operator Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our wastewater collection team, you will be responsible for performing scheduled and emergency maintenance, repair, and cleaning of sanitary and stormwater sewers, pipes, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance, repair, and cleaning of sanitary and stormwater sewers, pipes, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
- Operate a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools in a safe manner.
- Work primarily outdoors, in all weather conditions, and in confined spaces.
- Respond to flood, fuel spills, sewer odors, sewer backups, and customer complaints.
- Investigate and resolve such complaints.
- Inspect wastewater and stormwater-related infrastructure.
- Clean, repair, and maintain storm sewers, culverts, catchbasins, ditches, including grading.
- Load and unload equipment and materials as required.
- General care, maintenance, and safe operation of assigned equipment and tools.
- Order supplies and materials as required.
- Provide written and verbal reports concerning daily work activities.
- Must be willing to work overtime for emergency call-outs.
