BGC Okanagan, a leading organization providing safe and supportive spaces for children, youth, and families, is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as an Awake Residential Night Worker at our Emergency Youth Shelter in Kelowna, BC.

About the Position

This is a casual on-call position available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of residents during the night shift, including monitoring their activities, attending to medical and behavioral needs, and following established protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor residents through the night and address any medical or behavioral issues that arise
  • Follow instructions regarding specific residents left by day staff
  • Notify staff of major problems or emergencies and respond accordingly
  • Support residents with morning and evening routines
  • Ensure residents adhere to house rules and monitor curfew regulations
  • Manage medications according to established policies
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and minor building maintenance
  • Secure the building by arming alarms and locking doors and windows
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Grade 12 education and six months of recent experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A current First Aid Certificate and Food Safe certification or willingness to obtain
  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF AGENCY SCREENING PROCESS INCLUDING A CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK
Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $23.73 per hour. We strive to provide a competitive compensation package and excellent benefits to our employees.
