About the Job

Seaspan Ferries Corporation is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Area Manager. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing all production activities within a designated area of our shipyard.

This position requires strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule adherence. You will work closely with various teams, including Safety, Quality & Accuracy Control, and Trade Personnel, to achieve efficient operations.

About the Role
  • Safety Management: Ensure the safety of all employees working in assigned areas during construction processes.
  • Communication: Communicate HSEQ plans to General Supervisors and promote safety awareness among Area employees.
  • Production Coordination: Manage and coordinate work schedules with General Supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors within the designated area.
  • Schedule Management: Monitor and report on safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance for all work in assigned areas.
  • Quality Assurance: Verify completion of production work for each phase of the block/zone and conduct necessary inspections.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience, or advanced education in a related field with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of trade responsibilities specific to heavy manufacturing (welding, metal fabrication, electrical, pipefitting, paint/sandblasting, mechanical, rigging).
  • Proven supervisory and management experience in a union environment.
  • Experience in applying behavioral based safety principles.
  • Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
