Job Summary

The Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant is responsible for performing general housekeeping/laundry duties within established procedures, in accordance with the policies of the Home and applicable legislation. As a valued member of Simcoe County's Long Term Care and Seniors Services team, the Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality services in accordance with the organization's mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform all general housekeeping/laundry duties as required.
  2. Deep clean and disinfect requested areas or rooms as needed.
  3. Deliver and distribute personal clothing to resident rooms.
  4. Pick up and deliver exchange linen/personals carts and soiled bins.
  5. Assist with waste management processes.
  6. Support the orientation of new staff.
  7. Assume an active role in the infection control program, adhering to Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC) guidelines.
  8. Aid in the implementation of quality management mechanisms, such as home audits and resident home area reviews.
  9. Participate in committees as required.
  10. Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, committee meetings, and workshops as directed by the immediate Supervisor.
  11. Apply resident safety principles and practices in all daily activities, adhering to safe work practices and procedures, and immediately reporting any risks to resident safety.
  12. Contribute as a member of the inter-disciplinary team within the Home.
  13. Effectively utilize all electronic systems provided.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
  15. Comply with all relevant legislations, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  16. Work in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act, and their regulations, in performing duties in a safe manner, and follow all County of Simcoe Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legislation.
  17. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.
