Job Summary
The Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant is responsible for performing general housekeeping/laundry duties within established procedures, in accordance with the policies of the Home and applicable legislation. As a valued member of Simcoe County's Long Term Care and Seniors Services team, the Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality services in accordance with the organization's mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all general housekeeping/laundry duties as required.
- Deep clean and disinfect requested areas or rooms as needed.
- Deliver and distribute personal clothing to resident rooms.
- Pick up and deliver exchange linen/personals carts and soiled bins.
- Assist with waste management processes.
- Support the orientation of new staff.
- Assume an active role in the infection control program, adhering to Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC) guidelines.
- Aid in the implementation of quality management mechanisms, such as home audits and resident home area reviews.
- Participate in committees as required.
- Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, committee meetings, and workshops as directed by the immediate Supervisor.
- Apply resident safety principles and practices in all daily activities, adhering to safe work practices and procedures, and immediately reporting any risks to resident safety.
- Contribute as a member of the inter-disciplinary team within the Home.
- Effectively utilize all electronic systems provided.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all relevant legislations, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Work in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act, and their regulations, in performing duties in a safe manner, and follow all County of Simcoe Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act.
