Old Toronto, Canada Futurpreneur Full time

Futurpreneur is a national non-profit organization that empowers young entrepreneurs. Founded in 1996, we have helped over 18,700 young entrepreneurs, promoting entrepreneurship among Canadian youth as a critical pillar for diversifying the economy, generating employment opportunities, and fostering a sustainable future.

We are a founding member of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance, the Canadian member of Youth Business International, and the Canadian host of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). Our purpose is to drive inclusive Canadian prosperity by fostering the success of young entrepreneurs.

As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the quality and effectiveness of our loan adjudication process, with a focus on client success and providing an optimal client experience. You will lead and coach a team of credit professionals, serving as a subject matter expert regarding eligibility and viability of loan applications, in an environment of complex, often principle-based criteria.

This is a hands-on role: supporting loan adjudication and process while leading the team, requiring strong knowledge in credit, business structures, financial statement analysis, contracts, and the financial and business regulatory environment. You will report to the VP Client Service & Risk and support new initiatives, data analytics, key stakeholder reporting, and our co-lend with the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting reporting and analytics, providing insights from data regarding trends, and supporting risk-related analyses and other stakeholder reporting as required, recurring and ad-hoc.
  • Serving as a key liaison with the BDC, including co-lend renewal and facilitating updates or enhancements to eligibility, providing data and insights to support same.
  • Developing and delivering eligibility overview training (onboarding) for new team members as required to drive consistency in our process and client experience.
  • Maintaining and updating internal reference and training materials, such as the eligibility FAQ.
  • Guiding, supporting, and participating in process improvement initiatives within NCA and Compliance, working closely with other stakeholders, including the VP Client Service & Risk and Client Services Regional Team leads.
  • Supporting the implementation of new initiatives, working closely with other stakeholders as a subject matter expert from the Risk lens, and with a fact-based approach.
Leadership, Coaching, and Team Management
  • Supervising, coaching, and motivating the NCA team in the delivery of exceptional business results, achieving or exceeding SLAs and results in line with the Client Service & Risk annual business plans.
  • Collaborating with the Talent and Culture team and the VP Client Service & Risk for the development of role profiles, recruitment, and onboarding of new team members, annual team business plans, performance management, staff engagement, recruitment, learning and development, and identification of skills or process gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Conducting quarterly performance management reviews with team members, developing existing team members to advance their areas of expertise to ensure a high-performance team.
  • Aiding in client escalations, working with the Client Services Team Leads and VP, Client Service & Risk as required.
Adjudication and Decision-Making
  • Evaluating the viability of applications as a whole, based on business plan review and cash flow projection details.
  • Evaluating the eligibility of applicants and business activities.
  • Analyzing credit bureau reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable BDC eligibility criteria regarding borrowers and businesses.
  • Decisioning client applications, documenting all loan approval conditions, and supporting National Credit Compliance in the review and approval of same.

This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

We offer an attractive compensation package that includes a competitive salary, amazing benefits, health and dental benefits, RRSP contribution matching, health spending account, flex hours, and more. This permanent, full-time position is located in Toronto, Ontario, and you will be working on our hybrid work model, minimum 2 days in the office per week.

If you are passionate about empowering young entrepreneurs and driving inclusive Canadian prosperity, please submit your application for this exciting opportunity.
