Overview

KPMG in Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with a specialization in agriculture to join our team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in assisting our clients to grow and build thriving agricultural based organizations. Our clients rely on our deep industry experience and extensive technical resources to achieve profitable growth and obtain a fresh perspective on augmenting decision making and internal capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and review financial statements for compilations and review engagements.
  2. Prepare and review working paper files for income tax returns for personal, corporate and trust returns.
  3. Perform occasional bookkeeping duties, including preparation or review of investment account reconciliations.
  4. Maintain client files to ensure accurate and timely completion of returns and schedules.
  5. Ensure follow-up on notices of assessment.
  6. Provide support to team members in related tasks and guidance to junior staff as required.

Requirements

  1. 3 or more years of experience in a similar role would be highly desirable.
  2. Completed undergraduate degree and a CPA designation would be considered an asset.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure managers are kept updated on file progression.
  4. Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams.
  5. Strong time-management and ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  6. Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel skills required.
  7. Previous use of Tax Prep and CaseView programs would be beneficial.
  8. Strong accounting foundation, including knowledge of relevant accounting frameworks and file documentation best practices.
