Job Summary

The Cargo Agent plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of freight shipments, from accurate data entry to timely communication with customers. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve issues related to freight shipments, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding shipment status, required documentation, and payment arrangements.
  • Produce accurate freight loads for company aircraft, adhering to weight and balance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing freight, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Enter freight data into tracking software systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist with cargo acceptance, inventory control, and delayed baggage tracking.
  • Complete daily sales reports and other required paperwork, ensuring timely submission.
  • Follow company policies and procedures for handling dangerous goods.
  • Perform daily facility opening and closing procedures, ensuring a safe and secure work environment.
  • Uphold Wasaya Airways' Customer Care Commitments, providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous shipping and receiving experience an asset.
  • Valid class G driver's license required.
  • Previous airline experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment, including forklift trucks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of waybill completion an asset.
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team and independently.
  • Good organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet/email usage.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway an asset.
  • Experience with First Nations Organizations an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Overtime as required.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Transportation to and from YPL (out of YQT) provided, if needed.
  • Food and accommodations provided (rotational work).
  • Weekend work may be required.
  • Hazards associated with trade.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dirt, oil, and fumes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. repetitively.
  • Manual dexterity required for desktop computer and peripheral usage.
