As a key member of the Scotiabank team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of capital, liquidity, and funding requirements for the Global Banking and Markets division. This includes supporting the Director, Global Capital Markets Treasury, in optimizing balance sheet and funding utilization, as well as assisting in the collation of relevant information to assess the impact of business activity on key metrics such as stress testing, LCR, and NSFR.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of GCM business line strategies and be able to provide guidance to senior management on liquidity and funding risk mitigation and optimization. Additionally, you will support the production and delivery of ad-hoc and strategic analysis/presentations to senior management with respect to capital, liquidity, and related metrics for individual businesses within the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Director, GCM Treasury, in managing capital, liquidity, and funding requirements associated with the business activity of GBM.
  2. Assist in collating relevant information from GT verticals to assess the impact of business activity on key metrics.
  3. Support the production and delivery of ad-hoc and strategic analysis/presentations to senior management.
  4. Support the review of regulatory changes affecting funding and their impact on the GBM division.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, mathematics, or economics.
  2. Master's degree or recognized professional designation in a specialized area of finance or business (CFA/Accounting) is an asset.
  3. 3+ years of experience in a related field, such as Treasury, Liquidity Risk Management, or Treasury Strategy, at a bulge bracket bank.
  4. In-depth knowledge of functions and activities, including liquidity and funding risks associated with secured funding, prime brokerage, derivatives, and commitments products.
  5. Proficiency in banking regulations (LCR, NSFR, NCCF) and sound practices (Basel, OSFI, etc.).
  6. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  7. Superior communication skills, with the ability to influence executives across the organization.
