Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement PLC and/or PC-based control programs tailored to customer and project specifications
  • Develop control architecture and code for both partial and complete system modifications, as well as new system designs
  • Specify, test, and validate control hardware components in collaboration with other design teams
  • Program and commission AMR technology
  • Enhance internal software tools utilizing C#, VBA, and SQL
  • Prepare written summaries and reports outlining current and desired conditions along with recommendations
  • Create, procure, and manage electrical schematics related to hardware design
  • Oversee drawing packages and documentation
  • Conduct efficiency studies, including OEE and failure analysis
  • Complete all necessary internal time reporting and customer updates
  • Travel as needed for installation, commissioning, and training at customer sites
  • Track and document all expenses related to job costs and travel
  • Ensure all activities adhere to the highest ethical standards and comply with company policies
  • Follow health and safety regulations at both internal and customer sites
  • Perform additional duties as required

Essential Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms at all levels
  • 3-5 years of experience in all facets of control system design, including motion control and vision systems
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as SPC and Six Sigma
  • Electrical Engineering degree or completion of a college technical program related to automation, electrical design, or robotics
  • Willingness to travel internationally for periods of up to 2-3 weeks
  • Significant knowledge and practical experience in two or more of the following areas, or some practical knowledge in many: wiring panels and automated machinery, PLC & HMI programming, vision systems programming, robotics programming, servo systems programming, programming in C++, VB in a Microsoft environment (preferably .Net), database design and implementation, industrial network implementation, and machine safety

Autonomy and Authority:

  • Operates as a fully qualified professional with minimal supervision, adhering to clear guidelines and defined standards
  • Generally responsible for the design and programming of complete lines or standalone machines
  • May mentor and oversee the work of junior engineers and technical staff within the controls department or on similar projects
  • Provides management with insights regarding the evolution of company and departmental technical standards and designs

Special Requirements:

Must be physically capable of working with automated machinery in various positions, including standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Must be able to operate in diverse manufacturing environments (e.g., oil, dust). May require lifting and/or moving moderate weights.
