Position Overview

CEDA is currently looking for Helpers at our Nanticoke, ON facility. This role offers the chance to acquire knowledge and experience with equipment such as vacuum trucks and high-pressure water jetting units.

The Sarnia location operates under a union framework, and candidates should be aware that joining the International Union of Operating Engineers local 793 will be necessary after completing 1040 hours of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the operation and upkeep of vacuum trucks, high-pressure water equipment, and various specialized tools
  • Maintain safety protocols while working at heights up to 100 meters in a physically demanding role
  • Safely navigate small vessels and tanks with industrial cleaning equipment, supported by our experienced crew
  • Ensure the safety of all team members and property
  • Collaborate with the team and adhere to supervisory guidance
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Perform minor maintenance and inspections on equipment
  • Continuously learn new skills by rigging in and out specialized equipment
  • Complete necessary documentation for unit pre-trip inspections, job reports, and safety records
  • Uphold a strong attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed correctly and safely on the first attempt
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Role Requirements:

  • Valid Class G driver's license with no more than 5 demerits in the past two years
  • 1+ years of experience in an industrial setting is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Willingness to travel throughout Ontario, with flexible scheduling

Required Skills:

  • Strong mechanical skills
  • A safety-first mindset regarding personnel and equipment
  • Comfort and experience working in confined spaces
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing stairs and lifting equipment (up to 50 pounds regularly)
  • Familiarity with respiratory equipment and air supply systems; able to wear a full-face mask and carry an oxygen source
  • Enjoy working collaboratively in a team environment, sharing humor with colleagues while ensuring safety
