POSITION INFORMATION:This is a full-time support staff position within the Initiatives & Opportunities sector. The role is classified under Payband F, with a starting salary of $30.00 per hour, progressing to $34.77 after four years. The position is based in the Athletics and Recreation department, requiring 35 hours of work per week, typically Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Athletics Events Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the execution of Durham College's home games for varsity teams, managing special events (such as fundraising tournaments, summer camps, athletic banquets, and championships), supporting recreational programming, and leading community outreach initiatives through the Athletics Department.
Event Management:- Ensure compliance with all OCAA/CCAA event regulations, including timely completion of video, statistics, and reports.
- Supervise and participate in the setup and breakdown of over 100 varsity games and campus recreation events each year.
- Handle multiple game operations, including camera work, statistics tracking, and media relations.
- Act as the primary contact for all departmental special events.
- Coordinate the involvement of student-athletes and coaches in community events.
- Support campus recreation as the onsite coordinator during evenings and weekends.
- Identify and address safety and security concerns during home games.
- Organize and schedule student staff for all varsity games and special events.
- Promote awareness of games and activities to the Durham College community.
- Gather and accurately disseminate team and student-athlete information and statistics.
- Resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable sporting experience for participants and spectators.
- Assist in the promotional planning and execution of initiatives during games.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Address in-game complaints and provide solutions as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- A minimum of a 2-year diploma or degree in Sport Management or Event Planning.
- At least 1 year of experience in high-performance sport/event management.
- Proficient in technology and software for streaming, game film, and broadcasting.
- Experience in a multi-sport organization, such as a university or college.
- Background in managing sales, including ticketing and concessions.
- Experience in staff scheduling.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to customer service.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
