About the Role:

Cyient is seeking a skilled Field Technician to join our Telecommunications Business Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting Outside Plant (OSP) field data collection in Ontario and surrounding provinces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visit multiple job locations daily to review proposed fiber facilities, telecom infrastructure locations, and designs for field accuracy and propose adjustments when needed.
  • Take field measurements and photos of utility poles, equipment, cables, proposed equipment cabinets/boxes, and street dimensions.
  • Collaborate with the associated permit team to review and submit encroachment permits to various state and municipal authorities, department of transportation, railroads, pipelines, etc.
  • Walk and work outdoors daily, in most weather conditions.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1+ years of experience with utility construction in an outside plant environment is preferred.
  • Experience with telecom/utility poles, and MDU/HFC/BAU field surveys is preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience with existing and proposed telecom equipment locations.
  • 1+ years of experience reading and analyzing utility work prints is preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience with aerial, underground, or buried telecom infrastructure is preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience with IKE GPS or related pole survey equipment handling is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Superior communication skills while interacting with Utility, governmental agencies (city, county, state, and federal), consultants, and engineering firms.
