Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care professional to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide consultative services to healthcare professionals, assess and develop educational programs, and promote expertise in nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct skin/wound/ostomy examinations, interview clients, and review charts to provide consultative services to healthcare professionals.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs within the clinical area, collaborating with the Chief of Professional Practice and Nursing and other nursing staff.
  • Develop tools to evaluate the effectiveness of resources and educational programs.
  • Demonstrate and promote expertise in nursing practice through methods such as reviewing literature, consulting with experts, and role modeling direct client care skills to staff.
  • Provide direct care to clients with wound/ostomy care needs and perform advanced nursing skills within the area of expertise.
  • Review policies, procedures, and reference materials, and make recommendations for changes.
  • Promote the use of research findings into practice by incorporating information into policies, procedures, reference materials, educational materials, and teaching sessions.
  • Participate in research activities related to wound/ostomy care and in the development of quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Two (2) years recent, related advanced wound/ostomy/continence care experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Successful completion of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Institute of Canada (NSWOCC) - Wound, Ostomy, Continence Education Program (WOC-EP) or the Wound, Ostomy Continence Nurse Certificate (WOCN).
Working Conditions

This position requires local area travel between various PHC sites. Local area travel in the ordinary course of work is required for designated positions that cover Residential sites.
