About the Position

The Lead Consultation Specialist oversees the entire lifecycle of their program stream, managing staff from recruitment through orientation, coaching, performance evaluation, and eventual separation. This role is pivotal in establishing program objectives, supporting policies, and ensuring that resources and priorities are aligned effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, and assess the services provided by the program and/or staff in accordance with funding agreements.
  • Develop detailed work plans, key deliverables, timelines, quality metrics, and action strategies with clearly defined priorities.
  • Provide expert guidance in response to complex project requirements and support others as needed.
  • Manage the employment lifecycle for direct reports, encompassing recruitment, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other personnel matters.
  • Direct the creation and execution of quality assessment strategies.
  • Administer and oversee budgets for projects, contracts, equipment, and supplies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to program delivery, quality, personnel, and financial management.
  • Conduct research and prepare comprehensive reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
  • Participate in meetings with senior management and governmental representatives, presenting information as required.
  • Develop communication tools to enhance clarity and understanding of issues.
  • Promote, monitor, and ensure compliance with funding requirements through effective data collection, reporting, and record-keeping processes.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and expansion of new programs as necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for improving program effectiveness and execute viable solutions.
  • Address complex, confidential, and sensitive matters promptly, with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Resolve intricate conflicts that may arise among team members or stakeholders.
  • Gather input from regional committees regarding the draft Consultation Plan.
  • Oversee the execution of the final Consultation Plan.
  • Negotiate and approve enhanced consultation strategies with regions seeking additional consultation options.
  • Build a team to implement the final Consultation Plan, including hiring external consultants as needed.
  • Provide advice or recommendations to the PCMNO regarding self-government and constitutional consultations.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A strong commitment to serving Métis Citizens and promoting their rights and culture.
  • In-depth knowledge of Métis and/or Indigenous policy issues or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire such knowledge.
  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High proficiency in technology and standard office software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent project coordination, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of self-awareness.
  • Proven ability to balance personal work with team objectives.
  • Experience in motivating teams to achieve goals.
  • Ability to navigate conflicts and manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Basic understanding of relevant employment law legislation.
  • Experience in program development and evaluation.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role or within the organization demonstrating growth potential.
  • Experience in managing the employment lifecycle, including recruitment, training, performance coaching, and termination.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Experience in designing and implementing project work plans.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Eligibility for MNO Citizenship as per MNO Bylaws and good standing.
  • Proven ability to maintain financial records and manage project budgets.
  • Knowledge of key challenges and programs related to Métis and broader Indigenous communities.
  • Completion of a supervisory or leadership training course or certification.
Additional Requirements
  1. Current CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain it.
  2. Completion and maintenance of Vulnerable Sector Verification.
  3. A reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and appropriate insurance.
  4. Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
  5. Willingness to travel within Ontario for limited periods.
