Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Health Services – Rehabilitation Services, the Speech-Language Pathologist will function autonomously as a vital member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The role involves the planning, execution, and assessment of rehabilitation services, employing a client-focused, goal-driven methodology for both pediatric and adult demographics. Responsibilities encompass evaluation, direct intervention, consultation, and educational outreach for parents and caregivers across various environments, including acute care, outpatient facilities, long-term care, home settings, educational institutions, and community venues.

The Speech-Language Pathologist may also oversee clinical training for students and provisional members while contributing to the professional development of other healthcare practitioners. The incumbent will utilize sound judgment and initiative to prioritize tasks, determine methodologies, and address atypical situations. This position aligns with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud. The current caseload primarily involves adult clients.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Active registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech‐Language Pathologists of Manitoba
  2. Eligibility for membership with Speech‐Language and Audiology Canada
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email applications
  4. Strong oral and written communication abilities
  5. Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
  6. Excellent organizational and time management capabilities
  7. Proven ability to foster and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and external partners
  8. Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  9. Respect for and promotion of cultural diversity within the community
  10. Proficiency in both official languages is essential for designated bilingual roles
  11. Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position
  12. Commitment to confidentiality across all formats
  13. Positive work and attendance history

Employment Conditions:

  1. Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check, as applicable
  2. Compliance with immunization requirements as per Southern Health-Santé Sud policy
  3. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license, an insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00
