Position Overview: The Ecological Stewardship Technician plays a crucial role in enhancing public understanding of invasive flora and effective vegetation management strategies on behalf of our clients. This position involves the systematic collection of data to assess, manage, and report on the prevalence of invasive species within designated regions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments and manage both native and invasive plant species across various regions.
  2. Identify and apply suitable management techniques to control vegetation effectively.
  3. Engage with the community to raise awareness about invasive species and sustainable vegetation management practices.
  4. Gather and analyze vegetation data to evaluate the success of control measures.
  5. Perform outdoor work in diverse environments, including transportation corridors and utility sites.
  6. Work in varying shifts as required.
  7. Operate ATVs and trucks under different road conditions.
  8. Travel as necessary for project requirements.
  9. Utilize brush saws and chainsaws safely and effectively.
  10. Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  11. Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality for work and meetings.
  12. Contribute positively to the company's safety culture and employee engagement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  1. Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  2. Ability to acquire a valid Pesticide Applicator Certification as required.
  3. Previous experience in vegetation management is highly desirable.
  4. Educational background in Natural Resources, Forestry, or Environmental Science is advantageous.
  5. Proficiency in operating chainsaws and weed trimmers is a plus.
  6. Relevant first aid and transportation endorsements are beneficial.
  7. Experience with ATVs or similar off-road vehicles is preferred.
  8. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  9. Physical fitness to navigate rugged terrains is essential.
  10. Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol Policy is mandatory.
  11. Effective communication skills with diverse teams, both technical and non-technical.
  12. Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  13. Proficient in English to fulfill job responsibilities and engage with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
