Job Summary

We're seeking an entry-level laborer to join our team at our North York Metals Recycling Yard. As a laborer, you'll play a critical role in assisting with daily operations, including scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance. You'll work closely with our experienced team members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with scrap inspection and sortation, ensuring that materials meet quality and environmental standards
  • Operate mobile equipment, such as forklifts and loaders, to assist with loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
  • Perform general maintenance duties on machinery and equipment, ensuring that they're in good working order
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, truck drivers, and contractors to ensure a safe working environment
  • Participate in daily Routine Equipment Care (REC) to maintain equipment in good working order
  • Identify and report any safety hazards, environmental concerns, or equipment issues to a supervisor
Requirements
  • High school education preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures
  • Desire to enhance skills and knowledge to develop as a Gerdau employee
