About This Role

Directions Youth Services, a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver, is seeking a dedicated Youth Support Worker - After Hours to join our team. As a key member of our After Hours program, you will play a vital role in supporting youth who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intake and assessment services to new clients, ensuring they are an appropriate fit for the program and making referrals when necessary.
  • Identify individual needs and provide support, encouragement, and education to clients in matters related to crisis intervention, harm reduction, conflict resolution, community resources, substance use information, and advocacy.
  • Employ non-violent crisis prevention and intervention strategies, initiating first aid, calling emergency services, and/or delegating these tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records in our online database.
Requirements
  • Minimum six months of post-secondary education with an emphasis on homelessness, mental health, addictions, and/or social services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Minimum of two years removed from homelessness, street life, addiction, and/or other connected, relevant life experience.
  • Lived experience is considered an asset.
