Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at CP. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various terminal equipment, including shunt trucks, light duty pickup trucks, fuel trucks, trailers, chassis, forklift, sweeper truck, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate terminal equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Host containers/chassis within the terminal to support train loading operations
  • Perform general duties, including pre-tripping of perishable intermodal containers, building electric reefer container sets on railcars, and plugging in reefers on the ground
  • Conduct visual inspections and report on damages and defects of intermodal equipment
  • Prepare railcars for proper loading of different-size containers by placing pedestals and spacers
  • Assist in securing containers once loaded to railcars
  • Update systems as required once work is completed

Requirements

  • High School Graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Advanced reading and writing skills, including the ability to follow advanced written instruction and/or training in skills such as driving
  • Strong safety mindset, with a focus on operating in a heavy equipment environment with constant traffic flow
  • Ability to work on various shifts and days off, as CP operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
