Long Term Planning Engineer

Newmont Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Long Term Planning Engineer to join our team at Porcupine Gold Mines in Timmins, ON. As a key member of our planning team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality long-term mine planning work packages, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Collaboration: Provide visible leadership in support of health, safety, security, and S&ER programs, and work collaboratively with site functions to determine plan and design input parameters and assumptions.
- Long-Term Planning: Generate timely and accurate long-term planning work packages, including reserves and resource estimation, strategic mine plans, and life-of-asset infrastructure planning.
- Economic Evaluations: Conduct economic evaluations on mid-to-long-term development and stoping layouts, and execute long-term mine planning standard procedures and guidelines.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain trust and credibility with key stakeholders, including site technical services managers, site business managers, and functional teams.
- Education and Experience: A B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or equivalent, with P.Eng. qualification desirable and ability to gain qualification essential. Experience in long-term mine planning, production support, mine operations, and design in large and diversified mine sites.
- Skills and Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence, and high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity. Excellent communication skills, self-starter, and strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Technical Skills: High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimization techniques, and strong experience in the use of Deswik software. Knowledge of Geovia Whittle a plus.
The position is nominally located at Porcupine Gold Mines in Timmins, ON, with a 4-day on, 3-day off schedule. The role requires frequent working at a computer/monitor or keyboard and sensitivity to cultural differences at the operations within the Company.
