Cybersecurity Application Engineer

Nomadgao is seeking a remote Cybersecurity Application Engineer. This position offers a competitive compensation package that includes stock options.
At Nomadgao, we empower engineering teams to deliver innovative products to the market more efficiently. Our flagship product is a pioneering Design Engagement System (DES) that facilitates meaningful design discussions, minimizes preventable errors, and accelerates time-to-market. Our clientele comprises some of the largest engineering firms globally, spanning various sectors including industrial equipment, consumer goods, automotive, aerospace & defense, and shipbuilding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute regular web application and integration penetration assessments to uncover vulnerabilities, providing actionable recommendations for architectural and code modifications to address findings.
- Collaborate as an integral member of several development teams to evaluate designs, remain informed on implementation changes, foster trust, and identify security concerns early in the development process.
- Effectively communicate complex risks to engineering, product, and technical leadership, partnering with them to prioritize the resolution of security issues.
- Work alongside the Security team to enhance and refine our application security methodologies and culture.
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert in offensive security, leveraging your expertise to anticipate security vulnerabilities in forthcoming features and advising developers on preventive measures.
- Design and maintain automated security testing protocols to consistently enhance security coverage within our CI/CD pipeline.
- Contribute to the creation and promotion of our internal Application Security resource library, equipping developers with the necessary tools to conduct security evaluations of their own code.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of professional experience in a development or security capacity.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and self-improvement, with a willingness to pursue technical penetration testing certifications such as OSCP, OSWA, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to identify intricate technical issues.
- Proficient in tactfully communicating challenging issues and risks to developers and management.
- Capable of self-managing and prioritizing competing tasks, escalating issues to senior resources when necessary.
- A determined individual, capable of persevering when success indicators are not clearly defined.
Performance Metrics:
- Effectively evaluating and testing product designs, architecture, and developed features.
- Professionally communicating security vulnerabilities and design concerns to the relevant application development and product management teams.
- Clear, concise, and well-structured verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactively identifying and understanding risk.
- Taking ownership and accountability for their work, actions, and commitment timelines.
- Continuously improving application security processes and guidance.
- Fostering a culture of security awareness across product development teams and the organization.
