Job Summary:

This part-time position is responsible for providing non-medical personal support services, life-skills support, and light housekeeping duties to enable clients to live as independently as possible. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the program supervisor and assist clients with personal care, arrange and escort clients to appointments, and provide housekeeping services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Arrange and escort clients to appointments, including medical appointments and social activities
  • Provide light housekeeping services, including cleaning and laundry
  • Work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners to provide supportive relationships
  • Take direction and work independently as part of a team
  • Meet the requirements of a Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check

Requirements:

  • Experience in the provision of personal support services to people with disabilities and/or seniors
  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care, or other related qualification preferred
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs
  • Knowledge of basic math and the ability to do calculations and quantity measurements
  • Ability to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English
  • Able to communicate in other languages is an asset
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively
