Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant, Pre Post Analysis to join our team at Provincial Laboratory Medicine Services (PLMS). As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory testing services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and label blood and other specimens according to Fraser Health policies.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis by centrifuging, aliquoting, and distributing specimens by priority.
  • Perform clerical duties, including computer data entry and communication of test results.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, including temperature checks on fridges and incubators.
  • Prepare reagents, media, and specimen collection material, and distribute as required.
  • Load specimens for analysis on barcode-enhanced automated and semi-automated equipment.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including urine dipsticks and glucose tests.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including stocking adequate levels of supplies.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
