Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced educator to join our team as a Professor of Electrical Techniques/Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching subjects in the Electrical Techniques Post-Secondary and/or the Electrical Apprenticeship program, including Electrical Theory, Code, Instrumentation, Installation Programmable Logic Controllers, and Hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop curriculum for Electrical Techniques and Apprenticeship programs
  • Deliver lectures and practical labs, both online and on-campus
  • Encourage student learning and foster a culturally diverse and inclusive environment
  • Classroom management and evaluation, use of Humber's LMS system - BlackBoard, and program promotion
  • Recommend program advisory committee members and contribute to the overall direction of the department
  • Provide leadership in partnership development, securing collaborative, industry-driven student projects
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have Journeyperson Certification, a minimum of 8-9 years of relevant industry experience, and teaching experience in the electrical field. Formal studies in adult or higher education, a Master Electrician, and/or Baccalaureate are also an asset. The candidate will be expected to undertake and/or demonstrate successful completion of a recognized Adult Education Certificate.

The ideal candidate will possess teaching ability, an understanding of the learning process, and strong written and oral communication skills. They will demonstrate initiative, engaging and effective teaching skills, and a student-focused approach. The candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change, as well as a commitment to equity and inclusion.
