Ontario Health is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as an Organ and Tissue Donation Specialist. This exciting opportunity will allow you to make a significant impact in the lives of patients and their families.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As an Organ and Tissue Donation Specialist, you will be responsible for guiding each step of the donation process, from donor identification to medical donor management. Your expertise and leadership skills will be essential in optimizing organ yield for recipient transplantation.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct clinical assessments and evaluations of potential donors
- Establish collaborative approach plans with healthcare providers to enable every potential donor's family to donate lifesaving organs and tissues
- Facilitate ongoing communication with the healthcare team and provide regular updates on the donation process
- Support the healthcare team by requesting resources for tests or procedures required to determine medical suitability
- Recover past medical history from multiple sources and negotiate OR resources to support donor organ recovery surgery
- Identify issues for follow-up and quality control and adherence to Health Canada directives
- Work a variety of shifts, including on-call shifts with travel within Sudbury and the surrounding area
- Nursing Diploma and/or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum three (3) years critical care and/or relevant organ and tissue donation experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
- Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
