POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Speech-Language Pathologist plays a crucial role in delivering specialized services to individuals facing communication and swallowing challenges. This position involves working with patients in their homes, ensuring they receive the necessary support to enhance their quality of life.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services to patients, focusing on improving communication abilities and addressing swallowing difficulties.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources, treatment facilities, and relevant legislation impacting service delivery.
  • Utilize advanced tools and technologies to assess and treat speech and language disorders.
  • Engage with patients, families, and caregivers to educate them about communication strategies and available resources.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist in good standing with the relevant regulatory body.
  • Extensive knowledge of speech-language pathology practices and community support systems.
  • Experience working in a healthcare or community setting is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficient in using technology and software relevant to speech-language pathology.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel as required.
  • Fluency in both English and French is required.
