We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Forest Analyst (Contractor) within our Northwestern Ontario Woodlands Operations. This position is temporary and full-time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced GIS capabilities and analytical proficiency (experience with ArcPro, ArcGIS, ArcMap, Spatial Analyst, and Image Analyst is preferred).
  • Experience with forest estate models is advantageous (knowledge of Remsoft Strategic Optimization and Tactical Optimization Models and SFMM is preferred).
  • Utilize forest modeling tools effectively (OLT, MIST, ResidualTool, NDPEGTool, WWFTool, Patchworks).
  • Conduct forest modeling and prepare documentation for forest management plans.
  • Engage in tactical optimization modeling to support annual harvest and wood flow planning.
  • Possess sound knowledge in inventory preparation and review for updating or creating inventory products.
  • Prepare model inputs, interpret results, and compile packages for result reviews.
  • Have expert knowledge of Ontario's Forest Management Planning Manual and Forest Information Manual.
  • Be a Registered Professional Forester in good standing or have the ability to obtain this status.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in forest management planning.
  • A degree in Forestry is required.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team, communicate effectively across all organizational levels, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to improving health and safety, efficiency, production, and planning targets for Ontario Woodlands.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of MS Office and strong computer skills.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail while maintaining a broader perspective.
