Council Research Assistant

About the Role
The City of Kingston is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Council Research Intern. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with City Councillors and contribute to the development of policies and initiatives that benefit our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on a wide range of policy issues and develop databases to support decision-making
- Monitor the latest legislative and governmental developments that affect the City
- Assist in the development of benchmarking studies and research best practices
- Provide recommendations to the Council on policy issues
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Enrolled in and returning to full-time post-secondary studies in the fall of 2024
- Experience researching a variety of information and topics
- Excellent report writing skills
- Knowledge of local government and a demonstrated commitment to Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity and Teamwork
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
