Key Responsibilities of the Combustion Services Technician:
Your duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing on-site services, including configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Flexibility for travel, overtime, and after-hours support is essential, including readiness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Executing customer maintenance contract obligations.
  • Interpreting technical diagrams and documentation, including schematics, manuals, standards, and codes.
  • Installing, configuring, calibrating, and maintaining control, measurement, and indicating instrumentation (both pneumatic and electronic, including HART).
  • Calibrating various components and systems.
  • Working towards obtaining a G1 Gas Technician license to support industrial boiler and burner applications.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with personnel across various departments, including engineering, purchasing, and maintenance.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Ensuring timely resolution of customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Encouraging a collaborative approach within Lakeside.
  • Performing additional duties that support primary objectives as assigned.
  • Promoting the capabilities of our services.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be a qualified journeyperson or possess an Instrumentation Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent, or Technician Diploma.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate understanding and application of CSA B149 Code.
  • Able to work at heights and climb ladders/stairs.
  • Knowledge of configuration, setup, and troubleshooting of various Burner Management Systems and Controls, including but not limited to Honeywell 7800, Fireye Nexus, and Siemens LMV.
  • Familiarity with measurement devices (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analytical, control valves, and positioners).
  • Understanding of basic electronics and electrical requirements.
  • Ability to make recommendations and adjustments to combustion curves based on data from portable gas analyzers.
  • Knowledge of process control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide actionable results and recommendations to clients.
  • Previous experience with programming and wiring of PLCs, DCSs, and single-loop controllers is advantageous.
  • Proficient in various computer operating systems (DOS, VMS, Windows).
  • Skilled in software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Training and presentation capabilities.
  • Project management skills.
