Senior Manager, Finance (6-Month Fixed Term Contract)

About Us

The Ontario Cannabis Store is a leading provider of recreational cannabis products in Ontario, Canada. We operate the sole legal online store for recreational cannabis in the province and are the provincial wholesaler of cannabis for private retail stores.

As a member of our Finance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting and operations. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to join our team and lead our financial operations.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Manager to manage all related accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in leading financial operations and managing teams.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting and operations
  • Managing the Treasury and Revenue, or Accounts Payable and Inventory functions of the corporation
  • Controlling and maintaining adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IFRS and established procedures, practice, and standards
  • Managing the reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts, reviewing for accuracy, account balance issues, ageing issues, and takes appropriate action to clear outstanding balance and resolve issues
  • Ensuring that the OCS corporate accounting policies and practices comply with legislated requirements and the requirements of the Office of the Auditor General
  • Managing the period end process by ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of journal entries and interfaces
  • Overseeing monthly financial reporting and preparing corporate financial statement package for senior management in compliance with GAAP and established processes, procedures, and policies
  • Maintaining and analyzing financial issues and develop business recommendations for senior management, internal and external auditors
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of strategic KPIs, by working with other business units to collect, analyze and interpret internal financial and operational data
  • Working with internal and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and completeness of audit deliverables
  • Ensuring that the team has the competence and skills to execute business-critical projects by partnering with L&D to create learning plans

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager with a strong background in finance and accounting. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study
  • 7-10 years of finance or accounting experience with progressive responsibility
  • Experience with operational and strategic planning
  • 3-4 years of finance leadership experience is preferred
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation or related accounting designation in good standing
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel
