Black & McDonald's Ottawa team is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor for a contract position with potential for extension.

This role focuses on ensuring project sites adhere to company, client, and government regulations.

  • Provide comprehensive HSE support across various projects.
  • Collaborate in the development of robust HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Participate actively in incident investigations, contributing to root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of subcontractor HSE management systems, promoting best practices across the project.
  • Provide dedicated support to the COR Program, ensuring its successful implementation and maintenance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and evolving regulations, incorporating new knowledge into daily operations.
  • Lead engaging safety meetings, fostering a culture of awareness and proactive risk management.
  • Facilitate comprehensive orientations for new employees, ensuring they understand HSE protocols and expectations.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma preferred in a relevant field.
  • CSO or NCSO certification is highly desirable.
  • CRSP or CHSC certification is an asset, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of proven experience in a HSE role within the construction industry.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a valuable asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communicator, capable of delivering clear and concise presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all tasks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety and environmental regulations applicable to the construction industry.
  • Reliability level security clearance required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
