Surgical Suite Registered Nurse

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the experienced peri-operative RN has focused skills in various services, including Urology, General Surgery, Thoracic, Plastic/Oral Maxiofacial Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics. Both scheduled and unscheduled surgeries are performed, requiring the incumbent to work on-call shifts. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care during the peri-operative patient experience, adhering to hospital policies and standards. The incumbent must provide leadership in clinical practice, manage patient care, anticipate patient needs, and ensure equipment and supplies are available for required cases. The RN assumes responsibility and acts as a resource for staff skill development and support, demonstrating a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, and contributing to quality initiatives and promoting a professional work environment.
Job Summary:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, teaching, counseling, and advocating on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification
- Peri-operative Certificate from an approved school of nursing
- Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certification in Peri-operative Nursing
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous operating room experience who have taken a perioperative undergraduate course
