About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Design Engineer to join our team at Ranger Design in Montreal, Quebec. As a Lead Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing innovative products, working with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and profitability, and ensuring product quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative products that meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and profitability.
  • Create clear and accurate part and assembly drawings.
  • Manage sourced products and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and solutions.
  • Work with the supply chain and suppliers to develop solutions on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate the launch of new products and ensure all steps of the design process are followed.
  • Support the program manager by providing technical expertise on designs, time estimates, and products.
  • Ensure product quality control and ensure all new products are tested and conform to Ranger safety standards and design practices.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain and acquire knowledge of safety standards in the category of each design project.

Requirements:

  • Design skills and experience in product development.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in a similar role.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Manufacturing methods and procedures knowledge.
  • Process improvement skills and experience.
  • Technical understanding and documentation skills.
  • Safety management skills and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English and French (asset).
  • Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of an ERP system (Epicor, asset).
