Job Summary

The Supportive Living Worker is responsible for empowering and supporting individuals with disabilities to engage in life skills, daily activities, and social engagements of their choice. This role assists participants to live successfully in residential settings, ensuring their physical, emotional, social, educational, and medical needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, such as feeding, toileting, and personal care.
  • Support participants in developing life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
  • Encourage social engagement and community involvement.
  • Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized plans.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for participants.

Requirements

  • Certificate in a related human/social service field.
  • One year recent related experience, working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Previous experience working with people with dual diagnosis and challenging behaviors an asset.
  • Essential to display a proven ability to work with challenging behaviors calmly and effectively.
  • Experienced with various lifts, feeding protocols, toileting protocols, and basic adaptive sign language an asset.
  • Need to display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and mental illness.
  • Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member.
