Job Title: Native Community Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Native Community Worker to join our team at the Indian Youth Friendship Society. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and empowerment of Indigenous youth and families.

Job Summary:

The Native Community Worker will work closely with our community partners to provide culturally sensitive and responsive services to Indigenous youth and families. This includes developing and implementing community-based programs, providing individual and group counseling, and advocating for the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement community-based programs to support Indigenous youth and families
  • Provide individual and group counseling to clients
  • Advocate for the needs of clients and community partners
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement culturally sensitive services
  • Conduct social research and analysis to inform program development and evaluation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Provide support and guidance to clients and community partners
Requirements:
  • College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and youth
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
