Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Compensation and Benefits Analyst will be part of a dedicated team of skilled and enthusiastic Finance professionals. We are seeking a knowledgeable payroll expert with exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively. Trustworthiness and strong communication abilities are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, manage, and balance the bi-weekly payroll earnings and adjustments for a global organization across various countries (Canada, USA, Australia, United Kingdom).
  • Collaborate with HR to confirm new hire setups in payroll, process various changes, and handle termination calculations.
  • Provide prompt responses to inquiries from Finance, HR, leadership, and employees.
  • Oversee and reconcile all payroll-related tax remittances and workers' compensation across different jurisdictions.
  • Reconcile payroll General Ledger accounts after each bi-weekly payroll cycle.
  • Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) and respond to wage verifications and unemployment claims.
  • Complete various monthly, quarterly, and year-end requirements including T4s, W-2s, T2200's, and other reconciliations, accruals, and reports.
  • Reconcile 401K and RRSP contributions.
  • Evaluate current processes and suggest improvements.
  • Stay updated with and provide guidance on payroll legislation changes.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma with a focus in accounting or finance and a minimum of 5 years' payroll experience.
  • Certification as or working towards Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or a similar designation is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in multi-national payroll operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with UKG HRIS and payroll systems is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Sage 300 is considered an asset.
  • Experience in researching and establishing payrolls in new jurisdictions is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
